Gironda Principle #1 – No Abs! Vince was the first guy to publicly speak against regular sit ups and leg lifts for training the abs. Not only did he feel they could harm the hips, spine and lower back, but he also believed that over-training the abdominal muscles shocked the central nervous systems so much that it disrupted muscle growth in other areas of the body.

Gironda Principle #2 – Eat the WHOLE Egg (not just the whites). And eat a whole lot of them – up to 36 per day, if you’re serious about bodybuilding. Vince was the first person to recognize that the so called dangers of eating egg yolks were frankly ridiculous. In fact, this “cholesterol myth” has been scientifically de-bunked so many times it’s amazing how it still manages to cling on in these days of information overload.

Gironda Principle #3 – Do Not Listen to the Bodybuilding Magazines. Did you know that all of the best-selling bodybuilding magazines and media outlets are owned by nutritional supplement companies? And guess what their number one aim is? Yep, to sell more products. Once you know that, it won’t surprise you to hear that these sources actively promote supplements, even though they don’t help make you lean or build muscles.

Not only was Vince totally against the use of performance enhancing drugs (and spoke out on numerous occasions about it), but he also knew that when a person takes synthetic hormones the natural production of the body to create its own hormones ceases.
