Great Gym Workouts to Get You Ripped

It's hard enough to find time in the day for your workout, so don't waste your time while you're there. Make sure that you spend every moment effectively so that you can see the greatest results in the smallest amount of time possible.

Multiple Muscle Groups

One of the most important things you can do for yourself while you are in the gym is to work out multiple muscle groups at once. Not only will this save you time, but it will get your heart pounding which will burn more calories and trigger the release of human growth hormone while you sleep. This will help your muscles to grow bigger and stronger.

Heavy Weights

It also is important to make sure that you are lifting weights that are heavy enough to really push your muscles to their limits. You won't see many weightlifting benefits if you are lifting light weights all session long. By the time you finish your set, your muscles should be too tired to continue with the same exercise.

Rest

One of the most important things you can do for yourself while at the gym is to take advantage of your rest time. Between your sets, take time off so that your muscles can rest and recuperate to prepare for the next set.

Not only is your rest between sets important, but getting a full 48 hours of rest between workouts is also important. During a session in the gym, your muscle fibers develop tiny tears that require time for healing. If you work out before your muscles heal, you risk developing injuries and compromising your performance in the gym. In order to make the most of your workouts, rest between sets and between workouts.

Develop a Routine

If you don't consistently go to the gym, it is incredibly difficult to make the decision to go. The most important thing you can do for your weightlifting program is to get in the habit of working out regularly. This will eliminate any excuses that you might make to not go. When you develop the habit of working out, you won't have to decide to go every day. Instead, that decision will already be made for you.

Graduate from Machines to Free Weights

If you are a beginner in the gym, you will probably feel more comfortable using weightlifting machines than free weights. This is a great starting point, but you shouldn't let yourself feel too comfortable with machines. They can help you to perform lifts correctly before your technique is fully developed. After some time, however, weight machines will stop being as effective. You may see increases in the amounts that you can lift, but that strength won't necessarily transfer over into real life. That is because weightlifting machines don't allow your body to develop balancing muscle strength that will help you to get stronger overall.

Once you feel comfortable with the technique and motion of a lift, allow yourself to graduate from the machines to the free weights so that you can see the greatest results possible.
